I’m in upstate NY sitting in the woods watching the leaves drop from the trees.
The colors here are vibrant. Not like in Colorado where the predominant color is yellow. Here they are red, yellow, orange, burgundy, pink, and green. It’s stunning. Very much like back home in Northern Wisconsin.
As the leaves were dropping I was thinking about how shedding each fall is mandatory for the tree’s growth the following year. The process is mesmerizing and people drive for hours to see its beauty. It’s a welcome and accepted part of the tree’s life cycle and embraced without resistance.
I found this to be similar to what I teach my clients. In order for growth to occur, you must SHED what is no longer serving you.
Much like a leaf falling from a tree, you have to decide to let go.
Letting go is scary for many people because it’s filled with unknowns.
How will it feel when you let go?
What happens between letting go and landing?
Will it hurt?
Will it be scary?
What happens next?
Uncertainty and fear can cause many people to hang on longer than necessary.
These are all normal thoughts to protect you from harm.
But here is what I would like to offer you…there is never harm in growing.
Growth is always worth the leap.
