“I’m being a complacent passenger in my life”. That’s what Mary said in the Master SHED program this week.
It came about when I asked this question. What must you become unavailable to in your current life in order to create your new life?
Let me explain. In the Master SHED program, women spend nine months working on their one-year plan after completing the initial SHED program.
This month the only focus is to bring to life the woman, health, body composition….everything they truly desire. Their entire focus is on designing her and then becoming her.
And in order to become her, some things in their current life will need to be let go. My example was moving to a new place that had an entirely different climate than the one they were living in. If you were moving from Alaska to Florida, you wouldn’t haul your sorrels and parka with you. No, you’d leave that behind and buy a completely new wardrobe!
In order to become a different version of yourself, you’ll need to un-become the things that hold you back. You’ll need a new wardrobe.
When I asked Mary what she’d have to no longer be available to in order to become her, she said “I can no longer be a complacent passenger in my life.”
Mary has spent her entire life going through the motions and doing whatever was asked of her. She was on a path of rinse and repeat – only the rinse and repeat wasn’t for her. Her needs, desires, and wants were not factored into the equation. What this created was a general feeling of dissatisfaction in life. “Is this it? Is this what my life is going to be like for the rest of my life?” Cue emotional eating, lack of motivation to exercise, low-grade anxiety, weight issues, and now an auto-immune condition; Hashimoto Thyroiditis. This was NOT her ideal life.
So when I asked the question, who do you need to un-become, in order to become, the light bulb went off for her. She got it!
No more complacency.
No more being a passenger.
Drop the effing mic!
THIS. RIGHT. HERE!
She is stepping into the driver’s seat of her life. She’s investing in a new wardrobe. Her exact words later that day were “No more. It’s time to knock the damn doors down!”
