Dear husbands.
Your wife needs you.
She needs you to understand what it feels like to live in her body every day.
Because she’s not comfortable and it affects everything she does.
She’s embarrassed by how she looks.
She thinks you’re not attracted to her anymore.
She constantly thinks about her weight.
She is tired….bone tired of thinking about food, her weight, her size, and how her clothes fit.
And she’s sad. Sad thinking about what she used to be compared to how she is now.
But how would you ever know this?
She doesn’t share how she is truly feeling.
What she tells you is surface-level, not the deep feelings she experiences every day like frustration, confusion, embarrassment, and disappointment.
She’s not telling you how she sees herself when she looks in the mirror or trying on yet another pair of pants.
She’s not telling you she feels like a bad mom because she isn’t modeling healthy habits to her kids.
She’s not telling you how she’s self-conscious to get undressed in front of you…..let alone having sex with you!
She’s not telling you how her perspective of her weight and size is eating away at her quality of life.
What she is telling you is how she’d like to go to the gym more or join a new weight loss program, or how she needs new clothes.
If she were telling you the truth, you’d help her. I know you would. Because you love her.
The next time she mentions her weight, stop and look at her and remember my words here.
Ask her more questions.
Ask her how you can help.
Ask her what you can do to support her, and then go and do that.
And if I can help, I’d be honored.
