It sounds like a lot of complaining and not a lot of action.
This is what my partner said to me last week when I was talking about some of my clients.
My initial response was “eff you, entitled white man”!
How could he say this when clearly these women were up against so much!
Patriarchy.
Sexism.
Generational modeling.
Discrimination.
Husbands who don’t help around the house.
Being a single mom.
Working the “second shift”.
Being the primary caregiver to the kids.
SO MUCH!!!
He clearly had no idea what he was talking about……or did he?
As I spewed off in defense, I began to hear my own words….which are my client’s words…..which ultimately are excuses.
At the core, these are all excuses not to do the work you need to do to make changes in your life.
They don’t feel like excuses. They feel very real. And many of them are real! But if you are going to shift, you can’t let them derail you. You can’t make them reasons not to do the work.
Because let’s be real, patriarchy isn’t going to magically disappear. You have to do the work EVEN IF patriarchy exists.
Generational modeling of your role in the house isn’t going to disappear overnight. So you have to do the work WHILE you break limiting modeling.
Your second shift won’t be reduced until you have equal participation of visible and invisible household responsibilities…which will take time, and you get going anyway.
You can not lean on excuses because they are everywhere. And the more you use them, the more you will find.
If you are going to make the shift. A shift in your weight.
A shift in your energy.
A shift in your size.
A shift in you life.
You have to learn 100% accountability.
Even when it seems impossible.
Because the truth is it’s not impossible.
We do it every day in the SHED.
So in the words of my partner, stop complaining and start taking action.
Register for any of the SHED programs and begin guaranteeing results with 100% accountability.
We begin on January 2nd.
