I don’t want to be “that person”.
You know, the one who can’t have gluten, dairy, corn, carbs, wine…
I don’t want to be the person who goes to a restaurant and asks for a gluten-free menu.
Or the one who isn’t drinking and has to field all the questions.
Are you pregnant?
Is everything ok?
Will this restaurant work for you?
Do you need anything else?
Maybe you don’t want to explain your food choices to everyone when they are ordering for a team meeting. You know, “that” person!
What about when you go home, or to the in-laws? You definitely don’t want to put anyone out and have them make special food for you!
I get it, you don’t want to be “that person”.
But what does it actually say about you?
Here’s what you THINK it means. Or at least this is what you’re telling yourself.
You think it’s annoying, uptight, strict, boring, no fun, high maintenance, and you’re a pain in the ass.
You think it means you’ll be left out and won’t have as much fun.
You think it means people will judge you and be frustrated by your rigidness.
You think it means there’s a problem…YOU are a problem.
If this resonates, I’d like to tell you something. You have it wrong. I know, it’s hard to believe, but in this situation it’s true.
Because what it really means is you are a role model.
You are an example of what living a healthy lifestyle looks like.
It means you are committed to your nutrition, no matter what.
It means you are confident in your choices.
It means you respect yourself.
It means you have willpower.
It means you have enough grit and determination to sacrifice immediate pleasure for long-term results.
It means you value your health & body.
It means a hundred inspiring and positive things.
And do you want to know what other people really think?
They think “damn, I wish I could be more like her”.
They want what you have.
They envy you because they’ve not been able to do it themselves.
They want to say no to the extra glass of wine and not feel hungover the next day.
They want to pass on the nachos so they can button their pants tomorrow.
They want to confidently ask the waiter for foods they know make them feel good, rather than tired and puffy.
They want to be able to stay on track and still have fun.
THEY WANT WHAT YOU HAVE!
And how I know this because I’ve heard both sides of the story over the past twelve years working with women.
So, the next time you start judging yourself and making up stories about being “that person”, remember, they are no more than that…stories. You can either listen to them and bend, or you can decide to be an example for other women on how to care for themselves, as decided by themselves, in their best interest of themselves, no matter what.
Give yourself permission to do what you need to do, so other women can give themselves permission too.
And remember, you can make it mean you’re that person, or you can make it mean you’re THAT person!

And being role models, leaders, and examples of what is possible feels better than any glass of wine, appetizer, gluten, or hit of sugar.
If you want to be THAT person, we welcome you to join us for the January 2nd SHED.
You only have 48 hours to apply. Don’t wait. Schedule a call with me right now to discuss which SHED path is best for you.
